STAFF REPOR FSB: The need of crystallizing of stakeholders to brainstorm on Seed related issues had become imperative especially after approval of Amended Seed Act, 2015 by govt. The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) and Seed Association of Pakistan (SAP) have formed alliance to hold Pakistan Seed Congress (PSC) in order to deliberate pertinent issues on Modern Seed Act, seed policy, seed storage, handling protocols, and to address the issues of researchers and professionals working in the cited domain.


This was decided in a high level meeting comprising of senior officer bearers of UAF and SAP including UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan and President SAP, Dr Shakeel Ahmad Khan.


VC UAF said while speaking to the participants, “The UAF is proactively working to introduce an interdisciplinary seed programme targeting to bring researchers of different sub fields of agriculture under at one place to improve the research productivity. The PSC is the need of the hour for deliberation of various colossal challenges in seed sector including GMO crops and various other gaffes”.


The PSC will be helpful in revisiting the policies for improvement, identifying loopholes and proposing the solution for sustainable growth of agri sector while keeping food security intact.
