About 100,000 youth across Pakistan has been imparted skills and technical training by federal government during last year, the official sources reported.

Under Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Programme training was imparted while the supervisory role was played by National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC).

Around 95 different trades in 340 public and private sector technical and vocational training institutes have imparted training across Pakistan under this programme.

Similarly, each student was paid a stipend of Rs 3,000/ month. Students of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) were also included in training and received Rs 1,000 as additional monthly stipend said official sources.

The official sources said that programme aimed to give training and professional experience to unemployed youth enabling them to avail better employment opportunities. Training was imparted in selected and demand driven trades.

The programme would increase employment opportunities, lessen poverty and deliver skilled workers to large, medium and small-scale industry and fulfill international labor market needs.
