2-day workshop on climate change and water system

‘Climate Change Projections and Impact on Water System Performance’, a 2-day workshop has concluded at the US Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W) at the Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET) Jamshoro.
Project Director of USPCAS-W Prof Dr. Bakhshal Khan Lashari said at the ceremony of certificate distribution that the workshop was a platform of experienced people that have channeled the technical skills of the participants as an effective network. He also indicated that USPCAS-W has modern water laboratories to conduct applied research on water sector in Pakistan.
Prof Lashari informed that climate change, environment, and water-related issues would be solved by developing human capital in the sector, for which USPCAS-W at MUET is producing leaders in collaboration with USAID and University of Utah.
Dr. Jeffery Layton Ullman, Technical Advisor to USPCAS-W, said the University of Utah will give technical support for quality education and modern applied research for water sector.
The Deputy Director of Academics and Research at USPCAS-W Prof Dr. Rasool Bux Mahar gave an introduction of the Center at the first day. The goal of the workshop is to train engineers, scientists and water managers against climate impact studies with the help of tools like R statistical language and WEAP decision support tool.
Rakshanda Bano, significant resource personnel of workshop, accentuated that workshop would help to improve understanding of climate projections, vulnerability assessments and a range of application techniques of the trainees.
PMD Research Center, PCRWR, LUMS Lahore, SUPARCO, BUITMS, NED University, Karakoram International University, PMAS Arid Agricultural University, SIDA, WAPDA, Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam, QUEST Nawabshah, and MUET SZAB Campus Khairpur participated in the workshop.
