Nadra rolls out SMS service for voter verification

STAFF REPORT IBD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has developed an SMS service application to leading towards free and fair elections in the country. This new service which will allow the voters to verify their vote registration and particulars in the voters lists, says a press release issued by the NADRA.

To avail the service, the potential voter will send his/her CNIC number to a certain code provided after which he/she will receive a message in Urdu which will confirm his/her registration, the location (electoral area) where the voter is registered and his/her serial number in electoral rolls.

Nadra and ECP have recently signed agreements with three telecom companies (Ufone, Warid and Telenor) to forge a partnership for the launch of this service, while Nadra has also developed an SMS service application in this regard.
