STAFF REPORT LHR: Paying tributes to Arfa Karim Randhawa, the world’s youngest Microsoft Certified Professional, Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has decided to rename the Lahore Technology Park as Arfa Software Technology Park, Lahore.
Arfa was a brilliant and outstanding young mind and a source of pride for Pakistanis all over the world but now she is no more in this world. Her young life burnt, as her grieved father said, as a brilliant but brief flame of fire, and all her youthful aspirations were vanquished by the cruel hand of fate. It is our belief to bow to the will of Allah.
Arfa was a computer prodigy, who in 2004, at the age of nine, had become the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional in the world, a title she kept until 2008.
She received the Fatima Jinnah Gold Medal in the field of science and technology in 2005, besides the Salaam Pakistan Youth Award. She was also the holder of Pride of Performance award and was invited to Microsoft Headquarters again in November 2006 as a part of the keynote session in the Tech-Ed Developers conference held in Barcelona.
