STAFF REPORT KHI: Prof. Dr M.A. Uqaili, Pro Vice Chancellor MUET, has said that the demand for electricity in Pakistan is increasing rapidly despite its short supply. The MUET has always been striving for high quality research by encouraging the faculty utilizing indigenous resources of the country and learning from fellow researchers all over the world.
He expressed these remarks during his address at a recent technical seminar organized by the Faculty of Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Engineering, MUET, in collaboration with Siemens Pakistan on Strategic Network Planning for Pakistans growing energy needs.
Prof. Aqeel Ahmed Vice president Smart Grid division Siemens Pakistan highlighted the importance of smart grid solutions in Pakistan.
Irfan Ahmed, head of renewable energy systems from Siemens Pakistan, gave presentation on Wind Energys Integration into existing electrical network of Pakistan. He discussed important issues and presented various solutions.
Dr. Michael Schwan – Head of Network Consultancy Siemens PTI, Germany, discussed Network Planning Strategies for Distribution Companies with special focus on loss calculations, minimization, and reliability study of electrical networks.
Bachal Laghari, Chief Engineer HESCO, explained how HESCO has added additional 150 MW generated through small units in Sindh to their network.
