“PARC likes to join hands with International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre (CIMMYT) in collaboration with provincial agricultural research, extension and information organizations of Pakistan by developing National Cereal Knowledge Bank (CKB),” Dr. Muhammad Sharif said this during a recently held two-day workshop here last week.
The CKB is the worlds leading repository of extension and training materials related to cereal and cereal production.
He hoped that participants of the workshop will prepare a set of recommendations for Pakistan Cereal knowledge Bank and formulate the mechanism for its creation, maintenance and updating by different stake holders for increasing production, storage and marketing of cereal and its products in Pakistan.
Shahnaz Zubari, Director, Directorate of Scientific Information, gave an over view of the workshop and Dr. David Shires, Consultant IRRI presented remarks on the subject.
The CKB was launched in January 2008 and is managed by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) as a service to people working to improve the well-being of poor cereal farmers and consumers.
