STAFF REPORT LHR: The Punjab Agricultural Research Board has a significant role in preparing, implementing, monitoring and coordinating research plans in Punjab.
“In a short span of just two-and-a-half years, PARB has 53 funded output oriented research projects out of which seven have completed their research phase,” Dr. Mubarik Ali Chief Executive PARB, informed a recently held consultative meeting on agriculture research here last week.
He also briefed the meeting about the PARBs vision, mission, prioritizing researchable issues and strategy of funding research projects. He informed that 95 scientists have successfully availed PARBs travel grant opportunity and represented Pakistan on international level.
During discussion, Sajjad S. Mailk, Chief Executive EMKAY Seeds, highly appreciated the funding mechanism of PARBs Competitive Grant System (CGS) and suggested that in order to make the system efficient, the Board members should be recruited on an urgent basis.
Dr. Kasur Abdullah Malik said that PARB has connected education, research and extension departments to mutually achieve the desired objectives. He further said that PARBs efforts in prioritizing researchable issues are highly appreciable and methodologically sound
Dr. Sohail Hameed, Director NIBGE, stressed that sustainability and continuity of any organization is important to produce healthy results and government must ensure same it for PARB.
