STAFF REPORT IBD: The Science and Technology (SandT) Pavilion has recently organized by PASTIC in collaboration with Islamabad Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Islamabad Expo 2012 in Jinnah Convention Centre Islamabad. Purpose of the pavilion was to provide a market place to the RandD organizations/universities for the promotion of their innovative technologies, products and services to women entrepreneurs.
A number of universities and other institutions across Pakistan fully participated in the event.
Prominent were various food processing and preservation technologies, kitchen gardening techniques (NARC and Horticulture Department of Arid university), PCRWRs water testing and purification technologies, Mango Seed oil extraction technology developed by Islamia University having a potential to be used in cosmetic industry as a substitute for cocoa butter that is an expensive imported raw material.
Dr. Manzoor Hussain Sooomro, Chairman Pakistan Science Foundation, gave the brief overview of PASTIC and PSF. He assured that PASTIC and PSF would extend all cooperation to the women chamber in organizing the exhibitions as well as for skill development of the women entrepreneurs.
Samina Fazal, Founder President Islamabad Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, while addressing the audience at the closing ceremony said that innovations in business should be explored through research and development for the benefit of women entrepreneurs.
