STAFF REPORT LHR: In order to pay homage to Arfa Kareem, the Punjab government has asked her ancestral village, Chak no. 4 Ramdewali, to be developed into a model village. Arfa Kareem was such an unforgettable IT genius. Her achievements in the field of information technology at such a young age shed a positive light on Pakistan and its potential. She deserves to be honoured by the entire nation forever, said a government spokesman.
The model village at Arfas ancestral land will cost Rs 140 million. Divisional Commissioner Tahir Hussain conducted a small survey at Arfa Kareem Nagar to evaluate the development projects. A monuments construction has also been planned at the grave of Arfa. A library and a museum will also be established within the model village.
He disclosed that there will also be a Girls Degree College and Technical Training Centre and Boys and Girls Schools will also be upgraded. A construction of a basic health unit has also been proposed. Besides this, there will be a playground, improved drainage scheme, paved streets, provision of potable water and agriculture equipment.
Creating a model village in the honour of Arfa Kareem should not stop the efforts of providing all other villages with better facilities.
