wi-tribeSTAFF REPORT IBD: The Ministry of Climate Change has developed and launched Pakistans National Biodiversity Clearing House Mechanism (CHM) website with the technical assistance of WWF – Pakistan at the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, Islamabad.

Syed Mehmood Nasir, Inspector General Forests, Ministry of Climate Change (MoCC) were the Chief Guest. Officials from Forestry Wing MoCC, Provincial Forest Department, Zoological Survey Department, PBRC and Wildlife Foundation participated in the event.

In his welcome address, Dr. Ghulam Akbar, Senior Director Programmes, WWF – Pakistan, discussed about the importance and effectiveness of Pakistans National CHM website.

Syed Mehmood discussed gave a brief account on the Pakistans obligations under convention on biological diversity.

Naeem Ashraf Raja highlighted the strategic plan 2011-2020 and major components of BEAP project. Working Strategy of Pakistans National Biodiversity CHM was shared and discussed by Dr. Shehzad Jehangir DIG F-1, MoCC.

Saadat Ali Khan, Conservator Forest Bahawalpur discussed about the gaps between the lack of communication between Provincial and Federal Departments.

Usman Akram, CHM Expert, WWF – Pakistan gave brief overview of major activities of CHM project.

At the end, Syed Mehmood Nasir and Dr. Ghulam Akbar jointly launched the Pakistans National Biodiversity Clearing House Mechanism(CHM) website.
