STAFF REPORT IBD: The University of Peshawar and Nagarhar University Jalalabad, Afghanistan, have signed an MoU to jointly carryout research work and to develop direct academic linkages for the next three years.


Under the agreement, the two institutions would conduct joint researches and exchange academic material including publications. Both the institutions would also exchange staff members for delivering lectures and discussions on topics relating to contemporary developments in the region.


The agreement has been signed during a recently held meeting between UoP Vice Chancellor Dr Rasul Jan and VC Academics Nangarhar University Afghanistan, Prof. Dr Del Aqa Waqar in Peshawar.


On the occasion, Prof. Dr Rasul Jan, while talking to the visiting delegation, said that UoP has reserved one seat in every discipline for Afghan students while several teachers of Afghan varsities are pursuing their research degree programmes in UoP would help in raising the overall standards of higher education in Afghanistan.


He termed international collaboration as an integral part of academic excellence and hoped that the two institutions can benefit from each other experience and help achieving the goal of establishing a knowledge based society on both sides of the divide.


Prof. Dr Del Aqa Waqar said that University of Peshawar being the nearest foreign higher education institution to Afghanistan is playing a tremendous role in imparting quality education to Afghan nationals.
