STAFF REPORT IBD: Mathematics is an extremely important field of education and there is a dire need to promote education in this area at all levels of education in the country.


Speakers expressed these views at a recently held 14th International Pure Mathematics Conference at the Preston University, in Islamabad, with the theme of the event was Algebra, Geometry and Analysis.


Minister of State for Science and Technology Engr. Khurram Dastagir Khan presided over the conference as chief guest. Preston University was the co-organizer of the referenced conference while HEC, PSF, QAU and Pakistan Mathematical Society (PMS) were the sponsors. Eminent scholars, intellectuals, mathematicians and scientists, from top universities participated and presented papers at the conference.


Foreign delegates participating in the conference were from Algeria, Bangladesh, Finland, China, Canada, France, Iran, India, Nigeria, Nepal, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom and United Arab Emirates.


Eminent among the other speakers who addressed the inaugural ceremony of the conference were Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Vice Chancellor, Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad and Prof. Dr. Qaiser Mushtaq, President Pakistan Mathematical Society (PMS). They expressed their utmost gratitude to all the delegates for making it convenient to participate and present papers at conference.


They expressed the confidence that their participation will significantly contribute towards successful attainment of primary objective of the conference – learning and benefiting from each others rich and invaluable experience.
