STAFF REPORT IBD: Pakistan has at last drafted a policy for 3G auctioning paving the way for an era of faster mobile internet usage.

“The spectrum auction policy has been issued and that it was now the PTAs job to ensure a timely and successful auction,” said Minister of State for IT and Telecom Anusha Rahman, during her recent visit to the PTA headquarters here.

She said that the government will support complete transparency in the auction of next generation mobile services in Pakistan.

In his remarks on the occasion, PTA chairman Syed Isel Shah said that mobile subscribers in Pakistan would be able to transmit and receive high speed data through their cell phones once the next generation services are launched.

The matter of 3G auctioning has been in pending for years as smartphone boom has already hit the country.
