STAFF REPORT KHI: The Society for Conservation and Protection of Environment (SCOPE) and National Peasants Coalition of Pakistan (NPCP) has recently organized a regional conference on experience sharing on land rights advocacy in Islamabad.


The conference, sponsored by International Land Coalition (ILC), Oxfam Pakistan and other international institutions, was followed by a two-day training workshop on land right advocacy.


According to details, as many as 12 delegates from Bangladesh, Nepal, Cambodia, Philippines and Indonesia, and parliament members of Pakistan participated in the conference.


The major objectives of the regional conference and national capacity building workshop on land right advocacy was to march towards a comprehensive land and agrarian reform in Pakistan, with a specific objective of capacity building of land right activists in the country through experience sharing and advocacy training provided by national facilitators, as well as by selected ILC Asia members.


Organization of this regional event has generated a motivational process.


Representatives from ILC members from Nepal, Indonesia; Bangladesh, Philippines and Cambodia participated as resource persons.
