STAFF REPORT LHR: The Pakistan Museum of Natural History (PMNH) is doing excellent and extraordinary work despite financial hardships, said Senator Prof. Sajid Mir, Chairperson Senate Standing Committee on Science and Technology.


He made these appreciation remarks during a visit of the committee members to PMNH, a subsidiary organization of Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF).


The Senate Committee members visited different display galleries, research laboratories and repositories of PMNH.


On the occasion, PSF Chairman and PMNH Director General explained different exhibits, their history and importance to the members of the committee.


The Committee evinced keen interest in PMNHs research, documentation, display and educational programmes.


The Committee recommended that the PSF in collaboration with provincial education ministries should establish science museums and centers in the provinces. The Committee also called for role of media in popularization of science in the country.


After the visit, PMNH DG gave a presentation on PMNH history, functioning, objectives and achievements. He said the Museum is actively engaged in research on natural sciences, conservation of natural resources of Pakistan and public education.


PSF Chairman Dr. Ibupoto sought the Committee members and SandT ministers support for funds to complete the remaining blocks of the building. The Committee members and the Minister assured of their support in this regard.
