STAFF REPORT IBD:The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has been given award jointly by World Movement for Democracy and Mehergarh at a ceremony held to mark the National Working Womens Day.

The award was given in recognition for extraordinary efforts to promote the compliance of anti-sexual harassment legislation in the Authority.

Such implementation of laws helped NADRA to provide a peaceful and secure work environment, which is free of incidents of sexual harassment at workplaces.

Chairman NADRA Tariq Malik appreciated the efforts of all members of Nadra Anti-Harassment Committee on this achievement. Chairperson of the Committee, Fizzah Shahid, said that this achievement could not be possible without the support and commitment of top management and unremitting assistance of Mehergarh.

The Nadra has been endeavouring to empower Pakistani women by providing basic rights as enshrined in the constitution of Pakistan and has adopted a fair and equal employment policy to empower the women in every walk of life. About 2124 female employees in NADRA are playing a pivotal role in registering the citizens all over the country.

Nadra takes pride in increasing women registration by more than 80 per cent during the last three years. This hallmark been achieved because Fridays have been designated for women registration days on which only womens identity card processing is supposed to be entertained.
