Karachi chefs, cooks casual in h and washing: FUUAST survey


STAFF REPORT KHI: Keeping hands clean through improved hand hygiene is a highly important step, one has to take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. A Pakistani study published in an European journal highlighted a pathetic scenario in this regard with name hand washing concerns and trends of male chefs/cooks working in hotels and restaurants: A survey in Karachi published by a Faculty member of FUUAST university – Microbiology Sikandar Sherwani.


The survey is conducted among 180 male chefs/participants and found most of them 32 per cent work for 1st quarter of the day. Result of this survey indicates that a lot of should be done to improve the hand washing procedures in hotels and kitchen policies should be in safe hands.
