Wireless Power – inexpensive transmission method
Long time ago when the ancients noticed the shocks of fish that is know termed as Electric Fish, gave the concept of electric field around a moving fish in water. That Electric Fish concept was too earlier. After that a series of nations and scientists worked thoroughly for the understanding of such a kind of power and field, its storing techniques and utilizations. Centuries after, with the great effort of great persons when it becomes possible to utilize electric power for human comfort and store it for any use, there remain severe pitfalls or the hazardous areas where this comfort did not reach. Because electric power was always considered able to travel through a conductor or a wire, there are still some places where our conductors cant reach easily. Besides, this these transmission lines remained so much dangerous and disturbing for the livings.
There another question arises in the minds of those great inventors that why could not this thing be travelled without any conductor.
This type of technique of transferring power from input power to output load without any man made conductor or wire is termed as the wireless power transmission. A large number of scientists worked through this invention but the earlier remarkable concepts and clues were given by the Nikola Tesla. He proposed theories of wireless power transmission in the late 1800s and early 1900s. One of his more spectacular displays involved remotely powering lights in the ground at his Colorado Springs experiment station. Teslas work was impressive, but it didnt immediately lead to widespread, practical methods for wireless power transmission. Since then, researchers have developed several techniques for moving electricity over long distances without wires. Some exist only as theories or prototypes.
Recent studies and practical made this concept possible to happen, now it really works and the peoples have started to transmit the power without transmission line. Wireless transmission is useful in cases where interconnecting wires are inconvenient, hazardous, or impossible. With wireless power, efficiency is the more significant parameter. A large part of the energy sent out by the generating plant must arrive at the receiver or receivers to make the system economical.
There are several major methods used to transfer the power without wires such as electromagnetic induction, electromagnetic radiation and electro conduction.
The basics of wireless power transfer involve the inductive transmission of energy from a transmitter to a receiver via an oscillating magnetic field. To achieve this Direct Current (DC), supplied by a power source, is converted into high frequency Alternating Current (AC) by specially designed electronics built into the transmitter.
The alternating current energizes a copper wire coil in the transmitter, which generates a magnetic field. Once a second (receiver) coil is placed within proximity of the magnetic field, the field can induce an alternating current in the receiving coil.
This type of power transfer has great benefits such as reliability of power transfer in almost all conditions such as wet, dirty and moving environment , reduced cost , consistency and safety are its major benefits so far.
• Industrial Applications:
• Wireless Power Connectors
• Wireless Power Slip Rings
• Wireless Harnesses , etc
Besides industrial it has many applications for users now a days such as wireless charging system for smart phones and tablets. According to modern researches, the future of wireless power transmission is bright but it is true that it takes a time to spread widely.
