OSFP to mark Software Freedom Day on 20th


STAFF REPORT ISB: Open Source Foundation of Pakistan (OSFP) is organizing the first ever Software Freedom Day 2014 (SFD14) in Islamabad in partnership with HEC, scheduled to be held on September 20 at the HEC premises. Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) is one of the sponsors for this event.

OSFP is a non-profit organization with a vision to contribute to the promotion of the Open Source towards technology freedom.

The Software Freedom Day (SFD) is celebrated globally with an aim to to educate everyone about using efficient and cost-effective Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) for existing and emerging applications in education, health, e-governance, industry, banking, home and in business.

Representatives from government institutes, IT industry, academia, technical community, and civil society organizations will also attend the event.
