REAP awards recognise rice exporters potential


STAFF REPORT ISB: The recent observance of the 6th Rice Export Association Pakistans (REAP) Export Trophy Awards has marked a new milestone in the exponentially growing rice export industry in Pakistan. REAPs continuous efforts to honour businessmen in this manner is distinctly motivating and persistently encourages new entrepreneurs to enter the industry.

Pakistan is one of the largest rice exporters in the world.

Basmati rice exports in Pakistan saw an increase between 2012 -2014 from a quantity of 630,035 metric tons valued at 629,691,175 dollars to 733,860 metric tons valued at 846,240,671 dollars.

The 16 per cent increase in quantity, and 35 per cent increase in value, is an indicator of the countrys immense potential for production in the international market.
