STAFF REPORT ISB: The government is giving high priority to ICTs sector, particularly “Internet Governance system in the country”, which is playing an important role in the business growth and good governance both in public and private sectors. Minister for IT Anusha Rehman said this while addressing a workshop “Internet Governance and Roles of its Stakeholders” organized by the IT Ministry in Islamabad. She said that Pakistan has joined hands with ICANN to streamline its policies and action plans regarding Internet and its usage, in accordance with the guidelines provided by ICANN.


Currently, many internet standards and government organizations are working on ICANN APNIC (Asia Pacific Network Information Centre) and ISOC (Internet Society) all over the world.


Purpose of the workshop was to have an integrate gathering of the stakeholders of “Internet Ecosystem” for the delivery of more convenient, citizen centric and cost effective public services. Experts from ICANN, ISOC, APNIC, CEOs and CIOs of ISPs, IT and Telecom Companies, Academia, Scholars, Officials of Government Organizations, Civil Society and other dignitaries participated in the workshop held in Islamabad.
