STAFF REPORT ISB: Like in India, Nepal and Bangladesh, Pakistan will also have the Borlaug Institute for South Asia (BISA) to promote nutrition and livelihood security as well as environmental rehabilitation in South Asia.


The high officials of International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) and Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) held a detailed meeting to sort out modalities and initiate infrastructure development work for building a complex to serve as the office of the BISA, Pakistan.The institute is being established in the legacy of Dr. Norman Ernest Borlaug, the father of the Green Revolution and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970.During the meeting, the CIMMYT Regional Representative was briefed in detail about the project.


Initially the BISA will be established in Islamabad and later its branches will be set up in all provincial headquarters.
