Staff Report ISB: Seven new frequency modulation (FM) radio channels will be launched by Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) to facilitate widely spread students across the country. The radio stations will be setup at four different locations at the regional headquarters.


The decision was the outcome of the seminar Community radio for learning held aiming at stretching the outreach of frequency modulation (FM) radio throughout Pakistan.


The seminar was organized by International collaboration and Exchange office and AIOU Institute of Educational Technology in cooperation with Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA) New Delhi and Community Media Pakistan.


Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui, Vice Chancellor AIOU while presiding the inaugural session of the seminar announced that the university would boost its media support for students through enhanced FM radio network. The media has emerged as most powerful social institutions and the AIOU wishes to take full advantage of it, he added.
