Staff Report ISB: NUST students garnered immense appreciation upon qualifying in RoboCup 2015. The students will showcase their indigenously made robots in international competition. It is unprecedented as the NUST team becomes the only to qualify from South Asian origin which is sufficient to prove the ingenuity of Pakistani talent. The team will contest in Standard Platform League category under RoboCup 2015 in Hefei, China next month.


RoboCup 2015 is annual international robotics tournament specifically a soccer mega event of robots. The tournament eyes on promotion of Artificial Intelligence research and supplement the advancement of robots in a lively, entertaining manner to engage interest of wider range of people across the globe.


The leagues in the competiton include RoboCup Soccer, RoboCup Rescue, RoboCup@Home, RoboCup@Work andRoboCup Junior. The Standard platform league in which NUST team qualified emphasizes the software aspect of the robots. In this league, all teams will have the same robots but the competitionwill rely on software optimizations and intelligence of the robots.


The 8 members qualifiers includes Dr. Yasar Ayaz (Project Supervisor), Muhammad Talha Imran (Team Lead), Abdul Rehman, Abdul Haseeb Ayub, Idrees Hussain, Maham Tanveer, Shams ul Azeem, Umair Hassan Khan Niazi.


Thetournament will kick start from July 17, 2015 and will conclude on July 23, 2015. The fingers are crossed as NUST team will compete 29 best teams from all over the world. Such milestone achievements not only help to better Pakistan`s image at international level but also enable international community to realize exceptional quality education, research activities, and talent in the country.
