STAFF REPORT LHR: Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has signed agreement with private sector companies Lahore Compost Pvt. Limited and DG Cement Pakistan Limited with the aim to mutually cooperate in order to convert solid waste into energy under their project Waste to Energy.
According to the agreement LWMC will provide an accumulative 1000 tonnes of solid waste for recycling purpose daily. Previously, LWMC had previously signed MoUs with companies namely M/S Renoir, M/S Swede tech, China western firm and ALBA groups.
Wasif Azhar, Senior Offical of LWMC apprised that the organization was generation millions of rupees revenue from such projects. He also hinted that many more interested companies are in touch with LWMC for same purpose which is really an astounding prospect.
The companies will utilize the aid of modern technology to separate waste into two discrete components i.e. organic and burnable. The organic material of the waste will be utilized as bio fertilizer in order to cut the usage of chemical fertilizers which have many adverse impacts on human health and the environment. On the other hand, burnable component will be used in industrial units.
The LWMC plans briefings on the Waste to Energy project frequently by keeping all stakeholders intact and for extension of outreach to attain desired targets.
