Academia-industry linkage is crucial for academic excellence

STAFF REPORT ISB: The Higher Education Commission, apex body to promote and regulate higher education in Pakistan is serving for excellence of higher education since 2002. The HEC intends to setup one university or at least its sub campus in each district of the country to create enabling conditions for every fraction of society to get higher education.

Dr Mukhtar Ahmed held a meeting with Federal Minister for Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), Rana Tanveer Hussain in which the ideas were exchanged on execution of the plan.

Chairman HEC said, “The education sector especially in SandT domains must be flourished to make country an education hub and lead it towards the economic progress through knowledge based societies where research, development and innovation are key components; and to attain that objective everyone should have access to quality education and HEC is working day and night for that cause but there is a lot of room available for improvement”.

Rana Tanveer Hussain emphasized on academia-industry linkage and said that many prime RandD organizations must be linked with academia to bring quality in research and improve the impact factor in order to foster the problem solving research.

Chairman HEC vowed to work on those lines and practically present a proposal to nurture academia-industry collaboration at various levels.
