STAFF REPORT ISB: Economic Cooperation Organization Science Foundation (ECOSF) is mandated for SandT popularization and promotion of RandD activities across the region. ECOSF has established first science collaboration among ECO Member States. The collaboration took place between International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi (UoK) and Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences (ICAS), Republic of Tajikistan. The agreement of cooperation and joint researches between two institutions was result of efforts of ECOSF.
Dr Manzoor Hussain Soomro, Chairman ECOSF Pakistan said on the occasion, “ECOSF has always remained committed with utmost perseverance for SandT popularization in the member states and is always a devotee of collaborative efforts. The recent collaboration between ICCBS, UoK and ICAS is the outcome of the ECOSF efforts as it plays role of catalyzing the scientific collaborations in the Member States for the sake of SandT popularization”.
According to the agreement between both institutes the focus areas of cooperation and joint research are Natural Product/medicinal plant chemistry, Pharmacology of herbal medicine, and Drug delivering system (hydrogels emulsions, etc). The student and faculty exchange programmes are also part of the agreement.
ICCBS offered 10 studentships/fellowships for a period of 1-6 months each to Tajikistan annually; five students will be from the university side, while other five from the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan.
