STAFF REPORT ISB: The climate change adaptation needs multipronged efforts to curtail its diverse impacts on Pakistan in various socio-economic sectors including water scarcity, energy, food security, health etc. This was the crux of high level meeting of think tank on climate change consultative group that comprised of environmental scientists, planners, policy makers, academia resource persons.


Chairman Ministry of Climate Change (MoCC), Arif Ahmed Khan stressed that due to climate change impacts various biodiversity reductions are on cards due to extreme weather conditions. He said, “The challenge of climate change can be countered with global community`s deep penetrating response to this heaviest and cumbersome challenge. The awareness needs to be disseminated in far flung areas to make communities resilient to the climate change adaptation policies which are very crucial to materialize the solutions in regard to climate change adversities”.


Former Pakistan Meteorological Department director general (DG) Dr Qamaruz Zaman Chaudhry emphasized on integrated efforts of climate change scientists, policy makers, strategists, media houses in order to play their effective part to adapt and mitigate climate change impacts and no clumsiness is affordable at the time when country has already paid heavy penalties in various forms.


The efforts of present government were also glanced upon in the meeting and necessary suggestions came from the participants for improvement.
