STAFF REPORT KHI: The World Wide Fund Pakistan (WWF-Pak) has joined hands with K-Electric Company, according to which both the organizations will mutually put efforts together for making Karachi city a climate friendly territory as the city has already paid penalty due to pollution and climate change impacts in the form of heat waves etc.


A formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between both the organizations. It is pertinent to mention here that K-Electric holds the environmental charter implemented through the Climate Change Policy.


According to the partnership, WWF would contend in this Earth Hour City challenge which has representations from around the globe. KE would also incorporate plantation of more than 20,000 trees for Karachi in organization with WWF.


Speaking on the occasion Hammad Naqi Khan, Director General WWF-Pakistan said, “Climate change is unfavorably affecting metropolitan urban communities particularly Karachi. The heat wave in the city had brought about more than 1,000 human losses, which is exceptionally horrifying. This issue must be handled by joint endeavors of distinctive associations”.
