STAFF REPORT KHI: Pharmacists have a vital role in western societies as they critically analyze the prescriptions of the doctors and analysis of the side effects of the medicines related to the medical history of patients, said Vice-Chancellor of Karachi University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaiser.


He said this while recently inauguration of the Drug Information Centre at Karachi University. The vice-chancellor stated that the Drug Information Center was a dire need. Medical Science and IT have experienced a tremendous development from which patients are taking benefits. He also said that the Foundation of Drug Information Center at University of Karachi clinic is very commendable. Trend of self-medication has increased enormously which signifies the importance of this centre from which patients may also be benefitted online.


Recognized pharmacists are performing their duties here and also the students will also get practical experience alongside their formal education, he added.


He appreciated the efforts of Dean Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Ghazal Rizwani, Dr. Osama and his team.


Sardar Yasin Malik announced to provide an ambulance, 2 shuttle busses, ECG, Ultrasound Machine, X-Ray machines, stretchers and wheelchairs for the centre. In her remarks, Dr. Ghazala HafeezRizwani said that pharmacists specialized in quality control could minimize the sufferings of the patients according to a latest result and will also increase the importance of the pharmacists in the medicine industry.
