STAFF REPORT ISB: Customers will have to verify their identity through thumb impressions to confirm that the Computerized National Identity Card they are using for activation of their internet connection is legitimate, original and it belongs to them.

This initiative has been taken after the completion of a biometric registration process for all the countrys SIM-card users.

A customer has to present their CNIC at Customer Service Centres of Internet Service Providers before making a purchase of a new connection.

After which customer will have to record the thumb impression that will be matched with NADRAs database. Finally the customer will be issued a new active internet connection.

A re-verification of all existing connections should be complete within a time period of two months after BVS deployment is completed by February 2016.
