STAFF REPORT ISB: As many as 2,028,920 Pakistanis have got employment abroad in different categories and professions during the last two and a half years, a senior official in the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources Development said.


“During the last five years (2011-2015), around 3,417,231 Pakistanis had proceeded abroad for employment through Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment,” the official said while talking to this scribe in Islamabad.


The ministry, he said, is making best efforts to match the technical and vocational skills of Pakistani intending emigrants according to the international standards and requirements of the foreign employers in collaboration with National Vocational Technical Training Commission (NVTTC) at Federal level and Technical Education and Vocational Training Authorities (TEVTA) at provincial level.


Answering a question, he also said at present, there was no National Policy on Labour Migration. Draft of the nation policy, he said, was drafted in 2008 but it could not be finalized due to devolution of the then Ministry under the 18th constitutional amendment.
