STAFF REPORT ISB: Vice Chancellor Air University Air Vice Marshal (r) Faaiz Amir has said that there is a strong need for awareness to the layman and this is the reason that they are looking at renewable energy sources to exploit them to the fullest and be fruitful for an ordinary person. He said this during the recently held 5th International conference on Renewable energy and energy Efficiency in Islamabad. The event was organized in collaboration with REAP.In the recent years, Air University has been very active in raising awareness in this regard by holding regular conferences and seminars on renewable energy to bring in the relevant experts to join in, share their researches for the development in this sector in the coming years. The VC said that it is unfortunate that the policy side less work is being done in this sector, secondly the government is working on the conventional hydro and thermal energy resources. “We want to conduct our research on this side, although we have not gone public way but we have made nucleus group who are working on it,” he said.A new Centre Energy Systems Policy and Research Centre (eSPaRC) has been established in the university that is conducting various researches in this field and soon they would be offering Bachelors and Masters degree in Energy Engineering.
