PARC chief for equipping farmers with latest tech
STAFF REPORT ISB: Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) Chairman Dr Nadeem Amjad has said that equipping growers with latest technology is vital to achieve self-sufficiency in the agriculture sector as the Council is providing food security assurance through its activities and ideas of agricultural experts.
“The recent torrential rains will be beneficial for some crops. He said that prime minister has shown his keen interest for development of agriculture sector in the country,” said the chairman while addressing the scientists and employees of PARC.
He said that they are so much self-sufficient in wheat production but we have to produce the disease-free varieties if we want the completion of our goals,” he said, adding during recent Travelling Wheat Seminar it seems that no rust disease affected crop found in Sindh and it is so encouraging news for the people who are directly or indirectly connected with it.
“The future of agriculture in Pakistan lies in Balochistan and we have to provide all possible facilities to the province,” he remarked.
The PARC chairman said that farmers need to be trained and their livelihood might get improvised by this. He added, “With the collaboration of Italian government we are cultivating olive in our country at large scale.”
Speaking on the occasion, NARC DG Dr M Azeem Khan said that olive cultivation will help to boost countrys economy and the cultivation of olive will be more beneficial if it has been cultivated in its ecological zones.
