STAFF REPORT LHR: National Academy of Young Scientists (NAYS) Pakistan in collaboration with International Centre for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (ICGEB), Trieste, Italy, has recently organized a three-day hands-on training course on “Basic Biotechnology Techniques” at Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), Karachi.


The event comprised various lectures from national and international guest speakers which covered a wide area of recent advancements in various fields of biotechnology.


Hands-on training sessions were also conducted regarding basic tools and applications of biotechnological processes. Around 60 local and international participants were taken benefit from the planned lectures and training sessions.


The inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Rana Qamar Masood along with other faculty members of DUHS, Karachi.


She appreciated the efforts of organizing team and emphasized the need of theoretical and hands-on training for the basic tools of biotechnology to enhance capacity building in this area of research.


First course of this series was held in NUST, Islamabad followed by CEMB, Lahore and NIBGE Faisalabad. Last day of last course in DUHS, Karachi was concluded with the ceremony graced by Prof Dr. Shahana Urooj Kazmi, Prof. Dr. Rafique Khanani, Dr. Shaikh Shakeel Ahmed, Dr. Qaiser Shaikh and Dr. Aftab Ahmad.
