JAMSHORO: A two-day training workshop on andquot;Food and Nutritionandquot; for the officials of Health


Department of Tharparkar was held at Institute of Biochemistry, University of Sindh, Jamshoro.


During the workshop, several highly informative sessions regarding food and nutrition were


conducted. The workshop participants were also taken to Nutrition Laboratory at Liaquat


University Hospital in Jamshoro.


Professor Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, Vice-Chancellor, University of Sindh was the Chief


Guest. Sharing his views on this eve, Dr Kalhoro said that nutrition awareness played vital role


in maintenance of health. He further said that he was extremely glad to know that biochemical


analysis of various non-conventional vegetables, plants and herbs of Thar region had been


carried out at the Institute of Biochemistry, which had led to stunning outcomes.


Dr Allah Bux Ghanghro was about to finalise preparation of anti-snake- venom vaccine. This


invention would earn the researchers and University of Sindh international repute, said Dr.


Kalhoro. He said it would also be available in abundance to the poor masses of Thar and would


save lives of thousands of people.


He appreciated the efforts of Masood Ahmed Mahesar, Executive Director, Research


Development Foundation (RDF) and Mumtaz Ali Dahri, course coordinator for their support to


University of Sindh. Dr Allah Bux Ghanghro, Director, Institute of Biochemistry presented


progress report of the institute and thanked Dr Kalhoro for joining them at the concluding


ceremony.
