A four day substantial polio eradication campaign in Hyderabad district commence from 25th February, 2019 after getting the water test report illuminating prevalence of active polio virus in Hyderabad.
Confer to the health department, the water taster was collected from Tulsidas Pumping Station of Water and Sanitation Agency and dispatched for testing from National Institute of Health (NIH) Islamabad.
Keeping in line the Divisional Task Force on Polio and Polio Eradication Committee Hyderabad decided to start on polio eradication campaign in Hyderabad city including Qasimabad, Latifabad and Hyderabad Rural Talukas of the district with 332263 vaccination of under aged children.
The presence of the polio virus means that the immunity level of children in the area has fallen, and they are at risk of contracting the disease. Positive water report demonstrates that the intensity of virus has increased and preemptive measures should be taken as the campaign is ahead in Hyderabad.
