Noble scientist Atta-ur-Rahman receive 7th FPCCI award

Pakistan’s famous scientist and academician Prof Atta-ur-Rahman, who is currently serving as Chairman of Prime Minister’s Task Force on Science and Technology, had been nominated for the prestigious award in recognition of his commendable services in science and technology sector.

Considering the noteworthy services of esteemed scientist, President Dr Arif Alvi confers the award to Prof Rehman in the 7th Achievement Awards Ceremony, organized by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad.

Prof Rahman has also served as the Federal Minister for Science and Technology and Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman.

He obtained his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Cambridge University. He has 1157 publications in several fields of organic chemistry, including 771 research publications, 43 international patents, 70 chapters in books and 271 books published largely by major U.S. and European presses.

Prof Atta-ur-Rahman is the Editor-in-Chief of eight European Chemistry journals and Editor of the world’s leading encyclopedic series of volumes on natural products “Studies in Natural Product Chemistry” 62 volumes of which have been published under his editorship‎ in the last two decades.

Under his supervision 82 students have completed their Ph.D. degrees. He attained various national and international awards in acknowledgment of his marvelous offerings in the field of science and technology.
