The prime objective of Oxford Big Read is to draw young people towards reading books in depth, develop their comprehension and creative writing skills, and finally reward their effort and interest in reading and creative writing.”
The campaign is open to schools and institutions in Hong Kong, China, India, Malaysia, and Pakistan through the Oxford University Press branch offices. Submissions from students are evaluated by a panel of judges based on originality of thought and expression, vocabulary range, and the overall quality of content.
Coordinator for Creative Writing Lubna Mehree said “I am thankful to OUP for organizing and providing a platform to young learners to showcase their critical thinking abilities. Critical thinking, being one of the four Cs of 21st Century learning, is very important so when you are inculcating creativity and critical thinking into your students, books play an important role in it. OUP has made a meaningful contribution by organizing such contests and providing avenues to educationists and students alike.”
