High Level meeting concerning blended learning held at VU, Islamabad

A Consultative Meeting for technical education through Blended learning was organized at Virtual University of Pakistan (VU) , Islamabad Campus.

High Level meeting concerning blended learning held at VU, IslamabadThe meeting was chaired by Rector, Virtual University of Pakistan Mr. Naeem Tariq. The meeting was attended by all key stake holders including representatives from HEC, TEVTA, Punjab, TEVTA, KP, NAVTTC and Vice Chancellors of different Universities in Pakistan.

Mr. Zia ud Din Azhar, Chief ICT, Planning Commission, Islamabad, Mr. Asif Khan Consultant IT, HEC, Islamabad, Dr. Khair M. Kakar, Director ORIC, Baluchistan University of Engineering and Technology, Khuzdar, Mr.. Akhtar Abbas Bharwana, COO, Punjab-TEVTA, Mr. Hassan-uazzam, Director R&D, Punjab-TEVTA, Mr. M. Sadiq Orakzai, Director, KP-TEVTA, Mr. Waseem Ullah Jan, Registrar, University of Baltistan, Skardu, Gilgit Baltistan, Dr. Arshad Hussain Hashmi, Director ORIC, Virtual University of Pakistan and Dr. Tanveer Hussain, Head of Department of Biotechnology VU.

Mr. Naeem Tariq said that education plays a vital role in the development of a society. Technology is playing a key role in education. Integration of technology in education system will play important role for the provision of quality education to the masses. It’s almost impossible these days to hold training without the use of technology. Through the use of technology in blended learning will disrupt conventional mode of education across the country.

After detailed discussion, all the stake holders agreed that blended learning project is need of time in education system in Pakistan. Vocational trainings and short courses will help students and unemployed people to get quality skilled based education which will help them to get jobs and contribute in economy of the country.

Vice chancellors of all universities supported the agenda to be collaborators for Blended learning project. It is expected that this Blended learning project will be greatly beneficial to enhance the tertiary, technical and vocational education in Pakistan.
