Minister of Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said that the providing personal protective equipment (PPEs) for medical staff who are out in the field to battle the Coronavirus was the top priority of the government.

Fawad Chaudhry said in a media talk that the government was taking necessary steps to equip the medical staff at public hospitals with PPEs.

He also requested to the public to maintain social distancing, avoid handshaking and hugging and wash hands repeatedly to limit the spread of the virus.

He mentioned that it is the responsibility of the citizens to restrict themselves from social gatherings and avoid unnecessary travel so that we should take good care of our health.

He also mentioned that it was good news that the number of confirmed cases was comparatively lower than most of the developed countries including the US and Italy.

He told that we are keeping a close eye on the tally and ensuring all the necessary measures in this regard. The lockdown policy of the government has really worked. However, keeping in view the facts, the lockdown policy will be reviewed.

He added that the registration of ventilators and testing kits in under process. Once the registration is done, we can have mass production of masks and other essential tools. Pakistan will manufacture the ventilators in a country and the government is also devising a mechanism in this regard.
