Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhry received Distinguished Scientist award by Chinese Academy of Sciences

Head International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) of University of Karachi’s (KU’s) Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhry has been presented with the ‘Distinguished Scientist’ award by the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

ICCBS spokesperson said in statement that Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhry has been felicitated not just for his endeavours in bioorganic chemistry but also his efforts to strengthen research and ties with Chinese educational institutes.

He has to his credit the authorship of at least 1,355 scientific research papers and 73 books, each having at least 40 chapters, besides being granted 76 patents.

Apart from international awards and recognition, Dr Choudhry has been presented with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Award of Excellence), Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence) and Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Crescent of Excellence) by the Pakistan government.

A research centre in Nigeria has also been named after him and he is also a member of the National Commission for Science and Technology, which works under Prime Minister Imran Khan.

KU Vice-Chancellor Dr Khalid Mehmood Iraqi and Chairperson of PM’s task force on science and technology, Dr Attaur Rahman, have congratulated him on being awarded and have termed it an honor not just for the university but for the entire nation.
