Major industrial parks unveiled at Hainan Free Trade Port

China unveiled a development plan for Hainan’s free trade port, which aims to make Hainan a world-class, high-quality free trade port in the middle of the century.

Eleven major parks have been created on the island, including tourism, modern facilities and modern technology.

Liu Chigwai, secretary of the CPC Henan Probationary Committee, said: “Industrial parks are important areas for highlighting trade and investment policies, a field for fearless trials, innovation and reform, and new dimensions.”

Liu said he hopes these important industrial parks will play a key role in building a free trade port.

On the same day, the first facilities for Chinese living in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, both locally and abroad, were completed in the industrial parks of Hainan Free Trade Port. These include the Medical Tourism Pilot Zone, Sanya Yaz and Bay Science and Technology City, and Hainan Ecological Software Park.

The facilities are under the joint supervision of the United Frontwork Department of the Hainan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, which aims to help Chinese citizens living in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, as well as other countries, to start and invest here. The aim is to provide them with business-related advice and coordination, so that appropriate reforms can be implemented to develop Hainan’s free trade port.

Currently, 3.9 million Hainan citizens are in more than 60 foreign countries and regions. About 400,000 Hong Kong and Macau residents hail from Hainan. Hainan has more than 3,000 Hong Kong-invested companies and more than 1,500 Taiwanese-invested companies.
