According to an official notification, the new areas under micro-smart lockdown include some streets of Peshawar Cantonment, Pajagi Road, Defence Colony and Warsak Road. The lockdown became effective from 12:00 noon on Wednesday and will remain in place till next orders.

During the lockdown, entry and exit to the affected streets will remain prohibited and shops of only essential items will remain open.

After the successful policy of smart lockdown, now the KP government has initiated a policy of micro-smart lockdown in areas from where the coronavirus cases are reported.

On August 22, micro-smart lockdown was imposed in two localities of Alamgoodar area of Bara tehsil in Khyber tribal district after emergence of two fresh coronavirus cases from these areas.

Lockdown Extends, Deputy Commissioner Mehmood Aslam Wazir had said the movement on entry and exit points the two areas under micro-smart lockdown has been restricted, shops except for essential items, have been closed, assembly of people has been banned and the administrators of mosques have been directed not to allow more than five persons in congregational prayers.

On August 19, the district administration of Peshawar imposed micro-smart lockdown in four localities of the city. The decision of micro-smart lockdown was taken after emergence of coronavirus cases from these residential areas. The areas under micro-smart lockdown Peshawar included some streets of Hayatabad, OPF Colony and Anwar Asad Colony.

Earlier on August 17, micro-smart lockdown was imposed in six other areas of the provincial capital.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Asghar had said in a statement that all entry and exit routes of these areas will remain closed in these localities and only the shops of essential items like food, medical stores, general stores, tandoors and emergency service shops will remain open.

Coronavirus cases have massively decreased in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and rest of the country after which the government has lifted restrictions from many sectors and now only the educational institutions and wedding halls are closed. However, the government is constantly reminding the people to continue observing precautionary measures as victory against the virus has not been declared due to its potential of striking back.
