The mobile payment option is the first retail deployment in Irish grocery stores, according to a press release.

The pilot has been launched at two locations and, if successful, will be deployed across BWG Foods’ network of more than 1,000 SPAR, EUROSPAR, MACE, Londis, and XL stores.

Ireland Retailer, The technology’s benefits are multifold, according to the release, and include greater convenience for customers, less time queuing at checkouts, and allowing customers to scan products remotely for click and collect or home delivery services.

This mobile checkout is live at SPAR Cherrywood in Dublin and Londis Newcastle in Galway.
