The finalists of the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards 2020 have been announced, showcasing some of the best and most ridiculous snapshots of nature you’ll see this year, and boy, this year do we need it.

The competition, now in its sixth year, was co-founded by Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam, two photographers from the UK with a passion for wildlife. They say this is the best year yet, both in terms of quality and quantity of entries, and we’re tempted to agree. Among this year’s finalists, you can see a very NSFW pair of monkeys, a sea turtle with a bad attitude, a penguin with an upset stomach, and a whole host of goofy critters.

The judges, including a number of nature photographers, comedians, and wildlife experts, will now be sifting through this collection of 44 images with the difficult task of scoring, selecting, and finding a winner. The winners will be announced on October 22 in a virtual awards ceremony, so stay tuned.

You can check out some of the entrants that didn’t make the final cut but are still brilliant here.
