Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has stated that a manufacturing zone for the production of medical equipment has been set up in Faisalabad.

“A 200 acres medical equipment manufacturing zone has been set up in Faisalabad Industrial Zone. This would help reduce the import of medical device by Rs. 1.4 billion. The manufacturing equipment which will be produced locally includes syringes, needles, cannulas, Xray machines, heart stunts and dialysis machines. The next zone will be in Sialkot,” said Chaudhry in his Twitter post.

While taking to Twitter on Sunday, Fawad Chaudhry posted about how the medical equipment manufacturing zone in Faisalabad would result in reduction of medical imports by Rs1.4 billion as all medical equipment would now be produced locally within Pakistan.

“We will now produce Injections, Canolas, Xray Machines, Heart stents, Dialysis machines in Pakistan,” he added.

In earlier statements, Chaudhry said that 1,100 ventilators were being manufactured locally on a monthly basis and held that a coronavirus vaccine is expected by the start of the coming year. Chaudhry claimed Pakistan is also looking into locally manufacturing X-ray and dialysis machines.
