Jio users have raised the issue on the internet about Twitch being blocked by the telecom company. The blockage as reported by the users began at the same time as IPL 2020 started. Users believe that the step is being taken to stop pirated IPL streaming, as Hotstar holds all ‘exclusive digital streaming’ rights for Indian Premier League matches.
Jio users took to social media platform Reddit to raise the issue of Twitch streams being blocked. Reportedly, these streams have had over 1.5 lakh viewers during live matches. Not only Jio, Hathway Fiber users are also facing a similar problem.
Subscribers claim that Twitch streams stop working in the evening, around the time when IPL 2020 match kicks off. They have contacted Jio regarding the blockage.
Twitch is the most well-known platform amongst gamers. However, it was found, that few users were streaming IPL 2020 Live which attracts massive viewership. According to the reports, subscribers are using Twitch to watch IPL matches for free. As mentioned, Jio has not offered any clarity on this matter as of yet.
