A State Council edict to release the amended adjustment on the national science and technology award system has been signed by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.
The national science and technology award system, as an essential and old system, is an important strategy to promote independent innovation, inspire the liveliness of talent and encourage a positive atmosphere for innovation.
China’s major policies along with the mid- and long-term improvement plan for science and technology should be fulfilled by the science and technology awards as demonstrated in the revised regulation.
Honors for basic research in natural sciences and practical basic research will be augmented by China as noted in the regulation.
